I have A LOT of plans for my house this year! Most of it is just painting and décor but even doing just that can be expensive and overwhelming. To help keep my sanity, I use a project printable that allows me to list what I want to do and what my budget is.
Before I purchased my house, it was used as a rental property. It was built for the sole purpose of being a rental, which means cheap material, not so great repairs and just plain boring. For now, I want to focus on the smaller, cosmetic updates and making my house feel more homey!
I am planning on doing a mini-makeover on the entire house this year which will include:
- Painting all the walls and ceilings in the entire house- they are currently a flat paint that is a horrible light yellow color. We will also need to do some wall repairs on a few bad patch jobs.
- Window treatments– I need curtains on every window in my house. Right now I just have the cheap plastic blinds. I don’t know about you but I have the hardest time finding curtains that I love!
- Décor– This house is twice as big as my previous one so I need A LOT more décor than I currently have. Money is tight since we are trying to pay off $30,000 in debt this year so I will have to be creative. I am planning to do as many DIY projects as I can to keep the cost as cheap as possible.
Eventually, we plan on replacing all of our flooring with something more durable (and prettier!) and replacing all the cabinets and counters in the kitchen and bathrooms but, that will have to wait a couple years until we can save up the money.
This handy dandy project printable has space to list an overall plan and budget for your project, specific things you want to do, a budget for each item, a shopping list and a timeline for when you want to finish by. There is also a notes section to list things like paint colors or other ideas that you are unsure about.
I used this project printable for my bathroom makeover and it helped so much. Not only did I stick to my plan and know exactly what I was doing but, I came in under budget! Can’t complain about that!
After using this printable for my bathroom, I filled out one for each room in my house, set goals for when I wanted to accomplish each room by and have them all organized in my home binder. I am so excited to get started!
